Here at the university hospitals Dorset we are looking for a highly diligent conscientious professional to be our Cancer based specialist pharmacy technician.

This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to be imbedded within our UHD clinical Homecare team. Within our team we value all our team members and their development. This role leads the Pharmacy Homecare technical and administrative team .
  • Full-time (37.5 hours per week).
  • Weekend shifts 1 in 5 (either Saturday or Sunday) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.

Base Location: University hospital Dorset - Across Poole and Bournemouth sites

Main duties of the job

  • To manage the production of highly complex data from pharmacy systems, and to produce reports and dashboards manipulating complex data sets, that can be presented to a wide range of stakeholders ensuring they meet requirements of clinicians, senior pharmacists, managers and that key messages are delivered and understood.
  • To manage and develop Homecare medicines services for UHD in line with the Department of Health's strategy Homecare Medicines: Towards a vision for the future
  • To be responsible for the purchase of homecare medicines and related equipment and the accurate payment of invoices, ensuring compliance to the Trust Standing Financial Instructions
  • To support the Senior Pharmacy Team with monitoring, implementation and evaluation of tasks/projects by providing high quality support including complex information and data analysis

Person Specification



  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Science and BTEC in Pharmacy Services
  • Registration to The General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Accreditation as a pharmacy technician checker


  • Supervisory / Management.
  • Medicines Management accreditation and qualification



  • Extensive experience post qualification as a hospital pharmacy technician
  • Fluent IT user / keyboard skills at a senior level


  • Experience of information and contract management and analysis within a commissioning or provider organisation
