We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen at the Antimicrobial Reference Laboratory based at North Bristol NHS Trust. Band 5 analyst to join a research and bioanalysis unit working on the development of new LCMS methods to test for various antibiotics in clinical samples as part of the department research portfolio.
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn and keen to deliver in antimicrobial research. The post holder will work closely with the senior LCMS Bioanalyst and the head of the department to undertake, in collaboration with our industrial partners, the development and validation of LCMS assays and is expected to have some experience of day-to-day running of various LCMS systems.
The assays will be undertaken to the relevant standards (UKAS / MHRA) and the post holder will assist with preparing relevant documents and reports.
Please note: this is a two year fixed term position and will terminate when the grant ends or no further funding can be obtained.
Secondments from within the NHS will be considered.

Main duties of the job
To conduct day-to-day analysis of research / trial samples to complete the projects within the designated timeframes.
Assist the Senior Bioanalytical Analyst with validation and use of LC-MS/MS assays in research support and regulatory work.
Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with the necessary laboratory standards and regulatory requirements with the assistance of local quality assurance (QA)

They will be supported by the seniors within the section as well the head of the department as we have an open door policy which means the successful candidate can request a meeting with any of the managers at short notice.
North Bristol NHS trust is the largest healthcare provider in the south west of England, and this post is located in the Pathology sciences building which has a total capacity of over 500 staff members. There are various shops on site as well as a staff canteen and coffee shop. To participate in the provision of effective and high-quality analytical research for sections situated within the microbiology research department.To take responsibility for the day-to-day running of samples using HPLC and LC-MS/MS techniques, also to include the maintenance, operation, and management of these equipment.Under the direction of senior analysts and managers, assist in the LC-MS/MS analysis of Phase I and II clinical trials as part of the EU research programme.Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with the necessary regulatory standards including UKAS(for clinical samples) and GCLP (for clinical trials) also liaising with and supporting the Quality Officerin Quality related issues.Organisation Chart/Accountability
