In-patient Band 6 Physiotherapist rotating across the following clinical specialties:

Orthopaedic Trauma

Acute Medicine

Respiratory Surgery and Medicine

Acute Medical Unit

Frailty Unit

Acute Rehabilitation Outreach Team

Main duties of the job

Triage, assessment and subsequent management of acute patients across the full breadth of the in-patient hospital pathway from admission to discharge including identification and referral of patients for onward therapy services.

To lead the supervision of students on placement and band 5, 4 and 3 staff within the teams.

To contribute to service development within each clinical area.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
  • Registered with HCPC
  • Evidence of CPD in the form of a detailed personal development portfolio
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training


Desirable

  • Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • Evidence of relevant post graduate training/courses in specific clinical areas appropriate to post
  • Membership of relevant special interest group


Experience

Essential

  • Appropriate level of post registration experience
  • Previous experience across a broad range of junior rotations


Desirable

  • Respiratory competencies for weekend rota
  • Research and Development awareness and/or experience
  • Audit experience
  • Leadership experience


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced clinical reasoning skills
  • Knowledge of areas of clinical governance including quality, audit and risk management
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner
  • Basic understanding of computers and their applications
  • Proven organisational skills including time management, effective delegation and prioritisation and the ability to complete a task
  • Ability to work with and motivate others within a team
  • Ability to work autonomously within a clinical area with senior support
  • To comprehend and work within the Trusts policies of data protection, confidentiality, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients
