This is a permanent contract to support the Corporate Operations Directorate in developing and taking forward the Trust's corporate operational strategies and plans. The post will involve:

- Strategic planning supporting the delivery of Planned Care and UEC strategies, business plans and the Trust annual plan

- Supporting the development of the Trusts winter, holiday and weekend plans

- Support the contract management of the Trusts patient transport services contracts

- Awareness of national NHS policy and Best Practice

    Job responsibilities

    KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    Strategic Planning

    Assist members of the Corporate Operations Directorate in a range of service planning activities, service strategies, development of annual plans, winter plans and the bank holiday and weekend operational plans. Support in the production of business cases as required.

    To assist in the development of planning frameworks and processes to support the delivery of the Trusts strategic aims and objectives

    Support in developing Trust wide strategies e.g. Planned Care strategy

    Project support

    Provide project support for strategic and operational level projects within the Trust, including creating and maintaining project plans, taking minutes, producing project reports and contributing to other project documentation

    Participate in other project groups as required

    Annual planning

    Support in all aspects of annual planning

    Support with performance management reports for the Trust board to report performance against the annual plan

    Analysis

    Undertake ad hoc data and market analyses as required

    Provide summary reports for the team and other parts of the Trust based on the analyses

    Public and patient involvement

    To involve patients, carers, members of the public in service planning

    Communication

    Assist members of the Corporate Operations directorate in communicating the Trusts strategic and operational aims, objectives, priorities and planning frameworks both internally and externally

    NHS Policy and Best Practice

    To keep abreast of national policy developments, analysing their impact on the Trusts operational direction and provide summary reports as required

    To interpret, understand and promote evidence-based findings

    Person Specification

    Training & Qualifications

    Essential

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent training/experience


    Desirable

    • Project Management qualification e.g PRINCE

    • Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's behavioural standards


    Experience

    Essential

    • Understanding of NHS or public sector organisations. Experience of working in service improvement Advanced use of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint Advanced key board skills. Preparation of high level briefings and other strategic papers


    Desirable

    • Demonstrable experience of project management and successful delivery. Significant planning experience within the NHS. Knowledge of quality assurance. Experience in working with patients,members of the public, clinicians and managers. A good knowledge and experience of project management processes.


    Communication and Relationship skills

    Essential

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate well with staff at all levels. Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative. Report writing and presentation skills


    Desirable

    • Excellent influencing and facilitation skills. Diplomatic and tactful, assertive when appropriate.


    Analytical and Judgement skills

    Essential

    • Strategic, analytical and lateral thinker.


    Physical skills

    Essential

    • Able to perform office duties and attend meetings
