DSFS are looking to attract additional Security Operatives on a Zero hr contract to join the current security team based at the Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Security services are provided 24/7 to the Trust and successful candidates would be expected to be flexible to ensure full service cover is provided to the hospital.

Please note that a current SIA licence Frontline is essential for this role.

The hourly rate for this zero hour contract vacancy is �11.44 plus enhancements for nights and weekends pro rata per annum

Main duties of the job

Prepare and disseminate daily handover reports briefing the oncoming team of all theincidents occurred during your duty, covering any events that are due to take place duringthe oncoming shift.Advise, remind and encourage staff members to develop an interest in crime prevention andprotection of personal, patients and Trust property.Keeping a record of all duties carried out each shift in a personal note book as well asentering any untoward incidents in the daily occurrence log. Complete incident reportingusing the Trusts incident reporting system when necessary.Assist with safe operation during take-off and landing of Air Ambulance and security of samewhilst on groundMonitor the access control systems, paying particular attention to break glass notifications,doors left open, faults and temporary interruptions to service.Service Excellence Through Our PeopleMaintaining a highly visible deterrent by patrolling of hospital on foot and via vehicle. Indoing this checking all property and land associated with the Trust is secure and free ofhazards.

Respond to any security/fire related incidents on CRH site.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Training


  • oKnowledge of the Security or Customer Service industry.
  • oKnowledge and experience of IT systems including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • oKnowledge of security systems, such as CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and car parking systems.
  • oGCSE's grade c or above in English and Maths
  • oValid SIA licence in Frontline


  • oA recognised qualification in security and or physical intervention
  • oExcellent knowledge or qualifications in Customer Service and Health & Safety



  • oExperience of working within a security team or customer focused service.
  • oExperienced in dealing with challenging behaviour including violent and aggressive situations.


  • oPrevious experience working within the NHS.



  • oKnowledge and experience of security systems and their operation.
  • oGood knowledge of security environment, the potential risks, threats and actions required to manage and reduce risks.
  • oAbility to liaise and communicate clearly with patients, staff, visitors and contractors.
  • oDemonstrate excellent customer care.
  • oExperienced in dealing with emergency situations.
  • oStrong verbal and written communication skills.
  • oAbility to communicate and respond appropriately to alarms, evacuations, incidents and emergency whilst following security procedures and ensuring safety.
  • oExcellent Inter-personal skills.


  • oPrevious experience in communicating clearly with patients, visitors and NHS Staff.

  • oTo assess situations quickly, using appropriate action to defuse a situation and provide effective solutions.
  • oAbility to maintain calm and control in difficult situations, minimising panic in others.
  • oExperience in monitoring and pro-actively demonstrating security procedures are being adhered to by staff, contractors and visitors in order to ensure the premises and staff are safe.


  • oTo be able to work under own Initiative as well as following written and verbal instructions.
