An exciting opportunity to join an award winning Specialist Eating Disorder Service!
We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 7 Specialist Nurse to join our award winning service. You will be be based at Yeovil Hospital and will work closely with the Consultant Paediatrician and our highly regarded Community Eating Disorder Team in ensuring children and young people receive excellent care and support.
The service model proposed is rooted within a family-based methodology and uses the Maudsley approach as the core intervention. Additional intervention approaches include CBT-E, and other therapies as appropriate to individual presentation. The team is providing a innovative RO-DBT programme and a rolling Multi Family Therapy programme. The aim of the service is to provide a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach, with all young people care coordinated through this dedicated service. Initial training has been sourced in the Maudsley approach and continued training and professional development is seen as fundamental in the service specification.
The team are part of the QNCC-ED assurance network and have recently had a very positive peer review.
Main duties of the job
The role will include leading nurse-led clinics and promoting community-based interventions which are least restrictive. For young people requiring admission, you will work with the Paediatric Nursing Team to ensure a personalised care plan is established and delivered holding in mind the wishes of the child and family.
A strong level of clinical expertise in supporting children and young people's mental health within the context of an eating disorder services is essential. There will be a requirement for flexible working which may include some weekend and evening work.

Job responsibilities
You'll join a specialist multi-disciplinary team working with children, young people and their families referred for suspected or diagnosed Eating Disorder (ED).
You'll contribute to the delivery of the service offering assessment, formulation and treatment to young people and their families/carers within clinic and service user's homes in addition to clinic based work.
In addition you'll be responsible for liaising and working with other professionals as appropriate, alongside the promotion and development in the service of a therapeutic perspective and the use of therapeutic approaches.

- Registered Nurse (Mental Health) registered with the NMC.
- Relevant post qualification in Mental Health appropriate to discipline.
- Extensive post qualification experience in Mental Health Service.
Experience

- Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience at band 6.
- Extensive clinical experience and ability to demonstrate application of advanced clinical skills.
- Experience of nursing patients who are suffering from mental health difficulties.
Desirable
- Experience of maintaining team medical/nursing equipment, stock levels, ordering stock supplies.
