A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our Vascular Team for an experienced Band 5 or current Band 6 to be able to specialise in vascular and amputee work. The team continues to grow after the expansion of vascular services in Kent and Medway and is developing and striving towards providing a first-class service to our vascular patients within Kent.

This Band 6 role will be both challenging and rewarding, providing input to patients through their whole vascular journey. You will be part of a large, dynamic and proactive surgical therapy team. The Occupational Therapists are highly valued and given the opportunity to be creative with their intervention in order to provide a holistic approach and put the needs of the patient first. The role involves some supervisory responsibilities and opportunity to support service improvements, under the guidance of the team's Vascular Clinical Therapy Lead.

This is a full time role, however part time hours will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The team see patients admitted to the vascular wards within the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. The post holder will offer comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients referred for Occupational therapy and work as an essential part of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver therapy and support comprehensive discharge planning.

Main duties involve:
  • To manage daily a clinical caseload of patients, and be responsible for the assessment, formulation and treatments and to give specialised therapy advice to members of the MDT.
  • To deputise for Team Leader on clinical and managerial issues within the team
  • To be actively involved with training within the Department in support of new graduate Occupational therapists, student therapists, therapy apprentices and support workers alongside other senior members of the team.
