The purpose of this job is to provide technical support within the Technical Services department of the Pharmacy, assisting with supervision of the work of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistant Technical Officers.

The post holder will undertake duties involved in the provision of the clinical trials service within the pharmacy department, operating within procedures and current legislation governing the management of clinical trials and pharmaceuticals.

Person Specification

Education and Qualifications


  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent OR BTEC National Certificate in Pharmacy services or a recognized equivalent qualification.
  • Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Evidence of CPD
  • Qualified as Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician


  • Specialist training in Technical Services i.e. Technical Pharmacy course(s).



  • Appropriate hospital pharmacy experience to demonstrate ability to supervise a small team.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities


  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Able to manage own time well.
  • Able to supervise and act as a role model to others.
  • IT literate in Word, PowerPoint and Excel or equivalent programs.
  • Able to manufacture products aseptically and can provide evidence of aseptic validation
  • Evidence of providing training to selected grades of staff
