This is an exciting opportunity to lead the vascular access service at ESNEFT on the Ipswich site which currently operates Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00-18:00.
You will be responsible for leading the service and a small team who are all passionate about providing a high standard of care.
The role will involve a combination of managerial and clinical time. Clinical time will be used to triage referrals for vascular access devices and ensure safe placement of the device.

Main duties of the job
In collaboration with the consultant clinical lead for the vascular access service, the post holder will deliver an effective, responsive, high quality vascular access service across the site.
To act as a clinical expert in relation to vascular access , providing clinical leadership to nursing staff and expert professional advice to other professionals, multi-disciplinary groups, patients, relatives and carers
The post holder will promote evidence- based practice in vascular access through the integration of expert clinical practice, education and the development and implementation of guidelines and policies.

Qualifications
Essential
- Current Qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with a minimum of 5 years post registration experience in a patient facing and educational role.
- Evidence of training and competency in insertion of vascular access devices.
Desirable
- Qualification in management and/or leadership
- Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
- Degree / master's or willing to work towards Masters level degree
Experience
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years' experience at a senior level placing PICC's Midlines and other vascular access devices
- Evidence of providing high level education and practice facilitation to other clinicians in placing PICC's
- Excellent and in-depth knowledge of vascular access devices, patient selection, managing risk and complications and vascular access options.
- Experience in development and production of policy and practice documents, audit, governance, and clinical supervision
Desirable
- Experience in delivery of any of the aspects in the 'essential' criteria to the wider vascular access community either regionally or within the UK.
Knowledge
Essential
- Knowledge of all types of vascular access devices including policy and practice, risk, and device selection
- Knowledge of evolving practice in vascular access
- Be a skilled PICC placer with an extensive portfolio of different types of vascular access devices
Desirable
- Experience of placing Tunnelled line catheters
- Evidence of implementing change and service development and innovation
