We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior operational leader with a track record of managing acute hospital operations to join us as Deputy COO.

Working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive/Chief Operating Officer you will be responsible for operational performance and directly line manage four Hospital Directors.

To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate a sound understanding of finance, performance and quality, be comfortable taking accountability for performance standards and be experienced working in a matrix structure. Having already had significant NHS exposure, you will have the credibility to act as COO when required and play a high profile role in one of England's largest Trusts.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a broad portfolio including strategic operational and seasonal bed planning, managing relationships with system partners and NHSE and chairing the Trust's operational management group. The role offers a unique opportunity to work at scale and would be ideal for an aspiring COO wanting to take the next step in their career.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Proven experience in senior NHS operational leadership within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience gained as Divisional Director of Operations or similar
  • Experience working at sub-board/board level
  • Demonstrable track record of effective management and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage, motivate, and influence others.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent professional experience.

  • Relevant higher education qualifications in healthcare management or related fields are desirable
