This 0.6WTE 12 month post will focus on a range of specialist surgical services which are based at the Alexandra.There will also be an opportunity to work at Worcestershire Royal Hospital to offer cover when required. You will work alongside two other band 6 dietitians in the department to support band 5 dietitians and dietetic students while the band 7 is off site. You will need to have excellent communication skills and be a proactive member of the team.

We are a department of 32 dietitians working across our two general hospital sites. Our experienced team contributes to national dietetic specialist groups, publishes articles and presents at the BDA research symposium/ clinical conferences.

We actively encourage audit and service development, and offer supervision programmes, CPD, and regular team meetings. You will be involved in student training as we offer Coventry University A, B, C student placements. Specialist outpatient clinics are available if you would like to combine both inpatient and outpatient work.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a specialist Dietitian in the Department within the general team with a special interest in surgery.
  • To review in-patients on medical and surgical wards.
  • To work with the MDT and Specialist Nurses to enhance effective nutrition support.
  • To hold out-patients clinics providing expert advice to patients with a range of medical conditions.
  • To carry out audit to improve nutrition support for in-patients.
  • To provide cover to specialist wards during times of leave.
  • To offer training to nursing and medical staff on nutrition related topics.

    Job Summary:
  • Working as an experienced autonomous practitioner, to provide a high standard of patient focused care through specialised assessment.
  • To plan and deliver a high quality service to patients working in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team.
  • To offer a dietetic skills and expertise to complex in-patients and out-patients.
  • To contribute to the Therapy Clinical Governance agenda to further improve the quality of the service.
