Job description

Job responsibilities

Working for the Crisis Resolution Team means that no two days are the same. The service we provide is critical to those in a mental health crisis and helps enable specialist support from the onset.

As part of your role as a Senior Crisis Clinician you will provide direct patient care to informal patients and patients detained under section 136 of MHA 1983 as well as telephone support and advice to patients, carers, and professionals. You will complete rapid and comprehensive mental health assessments, identifying the most appropriate support and care pathway someone needs, ensuring the least restrictive options are always optimised. You will be responsible for the co-ordinating and implementation of brief interventions.

You will work as part of a team but also make autonomous decisions, assessing the needs and risks of individuals in crisis. This will include working with individuals who are experiencing an acute relapse or first presentation of a severe mental illness, those who present with complex emotional needs and high risk of self-harm and suicide.

We take referrals from a range of sources including police and paramedics as well as self-referrals via the local 24-hour Mental Health Helpline. We aim to triage referrals and respond as soon as possible to ensure seamless, responsive care and support.

As part of your role, you will support and guide junior staff and students. We strive to provide an excellent student placement experience to both student nurses and paramedics and we pride ourselves on our development of junior nurses through our development posts.
