We have 2 posts available to join the Band 6 rotations within Acute Respiratory, Acute Medicine and Health Care of the Older Person. Dependant on experience and meeting the criteria of the person specification, you may be employed as a Band 6 Physiotherapist or be looking towards furthering your career and be employed within a Band 5-6 Developmental role.

You will work alongside a well-established Band 6 Physiotherapist at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston.

Access to identified training, supervision, CPD time is guaranteed.

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the physiotherapy team, you will provide specialist assessment and treatment to a variety of patients, demonstrating clinical autonomy, clinical reasoning and working as part of the multi-disciplinary team. You will be involved in day to day operational management of the physiotherapy service and work with the team leads to develop the service further.

The post holder should have substantive experience of working in respiratory, medical and elderly specialities or demonstrate the ability to work towards this.You should be able to prioritise your workload, manage your time efficiently and work effectively within the team. You will play an active part in on-going in-service training and clinical supervision providing leadership, support and teaching to colleagues in order to support your own professional development and others.

You will need to be innovative and have excellent communication and organisational skills. You will require an ability to work flexibly, exploring ideas, and adapting practices to deliver more efficient prudent services in line with local and national drivers.

As a Rotational Physiotherapist you will be given the opportunity to complete 6 months' rotations, gaining experience in all essential strands of physiotherapy including: -
  • Respiratory
  • Medicine
  • Elderly

    Person Specification



    • Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
    • Registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC
    • Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post graduate courses


    • Membership of the CSP
    • Involvement in a special interest group
    • Basic Management Training

    Knowledge and Skills


    • Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role
    • Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service
    • Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written skills along with clear presentation skills
    • Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team
    • Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner
    • Ability to cope with working in a moderately physical and stressful environment with aggressive and emotional people
    • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework


    • Competent IT skills
    • Evidence of participation in audits
    • Ability to organise and run internal courses.
    • Supervision of other staff.
    • Committee membership e.g. safety committee
    • Ability to lead a team.

    Previous experience


    • 18 months experience and good theoretical and working knowledge of a broad range of conditions within the acute setting for band 6 role OR 12 months experience and the ability to demonstrate working towards a good theoretical and working knowledge of a broad range of conditions within the acute setting for band 5-6 developmental role
    • Student or assistant supervision, contributing to education
    • Experience of working as part of a team/MDT


    • Knowledge of the workings of the community service and intermediate care services
    • Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
