7/8a (developmental role) Are you a Clinical Psychologist interested in working across neuropsychology specialties? Come and work with us at the Royal Free Neurological Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in Edgware, North London.

This is a recently redesigned post based full-time at the NRC that is ideally suited to a colleague pursuing or considering neuropsychology training, providing a specialist clinical psychology/neuropsychology service to patients living in the community in London borough of Barnet .

The role is within the Community Neurological Conditions Management Team (CNCMT) at the Neurological rehabilitation Centre ( NRC ) : this is an established and innovative team providing multi-disciplinary rehabilitation and disability management interventions for adults of all ages living in Barnet with a range of acquired and progressive neurological conditions . It is based at the NRC , Edgware where there are excellent facilities for outpatient and remote assessments .

While this post is advertised as an 8a , we are open to current B7 applicants or current trainees to undertake this as as a development / preceptorship post with support from a principal Clinical psychologist to develop required competencies to progress to a 8a within an agreed period of time .

Main duties of the job

Clinical work in the CNCMT includes assessment, rehabilitation and therapies with individuals, families and wider social networks, with consultation, training and guidance to the wider team and networks around the person affected as an integral part of the role. In Outpatients, clinical work focuses on neuropsychological assessments contributing to diagnosis (e.g., dementia diagnosis and sub-typing) and/or treatment (e.g., monitoring outcomes post-treatment). Clinical supervision is provided by the Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist at the NRC.

Wider roles and opportunities include design, delivery and evaluation of service development initiatives (including groups), audit/research, teaching/training sessions, and supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists

  • Valid professional registration with Health Care Professions Council.

  • Post-doctoral experience in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation
  • Enrolled on a course of study and supervision leading to eligibility for the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN)
  • Entered (or eligible to be) on the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists, or willing to work towards this.


Experience

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology, or its equivalent, leading to eligibility for Chartered Status by the British Psychological Society.

  • Post-doctoral experience in neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Experience of working with people with behaviours that challenge
  • Experience in the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with medical colleagues (i.e., neurologists, psychiatrists) regarding patient care
  • Experience of working with other agencies on service or organisational delivery across providers, including statutory and voluntary sector organisations


Desirable

  • Enrolled on a course of study and supervision leading to eligibility for the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN)
  • Entered (or eligible to be) on the BPS Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists, or willing to work towards this.
  • Experience of working within an community neurorehabilitation setting
  • Experience of working in a diagnostic or memory assessment service, and providing reports to support this process
  • Experience of teaching and training other psychologists and MDT colleagues
  • Experience of conducting complex assessments with interpreters
  • Experience of working with other agencies on clinical care, including statutory and voluntary sector organisations
  • Experience of supervising and line managing others
  • Experience of service development and evaluation
