The Neighbourhood Mental Health Service (NMHS) are a busy, friendly and supportive community based mental health service who offer a variety of therapeutic interventions to the people of Worcestershire. This is an exciting opportunity for a Group Programme Lead position to support and develop community practitioners, whilst delivering outstanding care to our community. You will have successfully completed a Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship course.

You will be supported within the team by the leadership structure and have access to regular line management and clinical supervision. You will be shaping our services and ensuring that ultimately our patients and service users get expert care focused on recovery and independence

Main duties of the job

The role entails considerable variety no days are identical however a typical day may involve:

Develop and implement a comprehensive group programme

Leading on the facilitation of groups for patients who would benefit from non-pharmacological interventions utilising evidenced based models of intervention such as CBT, DBT SFT etc.

Offer specialist assessments and interventions to patients who present with complex needs within the locality service who may also require 1:1 support, including therapy-based interventions and offer alternative suggestions where group content may not be appropriate.

Attending professional meetings, including ward reviews via Teams or in person to review patients in your care

Attending MDT every Tuesday via Teams.

Person Specification



  • Experience of delivering group interventions
  • Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting
  • Experience of working with patients with Complex needs/Severe and Enduring Mental Illness
  • Assessment of people presenting with mental health problems
  • Assessment and management of clinical risk
  • Working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Working in collaboration with other services e.g. Primary Care Networks and VCSE
  • Managing own case load
  • Experience of key working (formerly care co-ordination)
  • Experience of delivering evidence based psychosocial interventions
  • Experience of delivering clinical supervision
  • Training/developing staff and/or patients



  • Knowledge of principles of assessment of people with mental health problems
  • Knowledge of principles of risk assessment and management
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2006 and other relevant legislation



  • Qualified as RMN/SW/OT/Psychologist
  • NMC/HCPC Registered
  • Degree Level Qualification
  • Level 5 Coaching Qualification
  • Recent evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of post graduate psychological therapy training or equivalent i.e. DBT, SFT, CBT or working towards.
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer


  • Teaching / training qualification
  • Psychological therapy qualification
  • Experience of key working and understanding of the NMHS model

Additional Criteria


  • Will be required to complete mandatory training
  • To participate in regular locality duty system
  • Able to meet the travel requirements of the post
