BAND 8a CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST Full time or BAND 7 Preceptorship opportunity

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Clinical Psychologist who wishes to develop their skills in working with people with eating disorders. The post could be appointed either as a preceptorship towards an 8a role for the right applicant wishing to develop from a band 7 into an 8a role, or appointed at 8a. Responsibilities would be adjusted accordingly.

For applicants interested in developing their skills in CBT specifically, there will be the opportunity to apply for a place on the IAPT-SMI training course delivered by UCL (one year CBT-ED top-up training). There will also be opportunities to train in the delivery of other evidence-based treatments, such as MANTRA.

The role offers exciting opportunities for direct clinical work, service development and multi-disciplinary team working. You will provide evidence-based psychological interventions to people experiencing a wide range of eating disorders, many of whom present with comorbid mental health difficulties. The roles will involve delivering individual and group interventions, as well as some joint work with our day service staff. You will also be involved in providing consultation, training and supervision to others within and outside of the team. Supervision of a clinical psychology trainee and contribution to service development will also be required for candidates at 8a level.

You will join a supportive, multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, committed to delivering high quality care and promoting recovery. You will receive regular supervision and will have the opportunity to join our reflective practice group. Within the service we offer a range of evidence-based interventions, including CBT-ED, DBT, SSCM, MANTRA and psychodynamic psychotherapy. We also work closely with families and carers, and you will have the opportunity to be involved in taking this work forward.

We have close working relationships with Adult Mental Health Services and the University of Southampton, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. There are therefore some opportunities to be involved in teaching trainee clinical psychologists and for collaboration with other academic staff and research.

Informal enquiries and visits are encouraged. For an informal discussion please contact Dr Hannah Turner, Consultant Lead Clinical Psychologist or Dr Louise Melhuish, Principal Clinical Psychologist, on 023 8081 9000.

Please note that we will shortlist sporadically before the closure of this job advert, therefore you will be contacted shortly after you apply.

Happy to Talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible and part time working will be considered.
