An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our SEQOHS accredited service based at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

You will provide a specialist physiotherapy service for the treatment of staff with musculoskeletal conditions at Barnsley Hospital. As an autonomous practitioner, this will encompass specialist Occupational Health Physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management of members of staff within BHNFT and BFS with musculoskeletal disorders.

The successful individual will act as a source of expertise and work closely with Occupational Health Nurse Practitioners, Physicians, Moving and Handling Team, Human Resources, Health and Safety Department and CBUl Managers regarding an individuals fitness to work/return to work. This may include a workplace assessment to prevent/reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury to staff, patients and the public (others).

Main duties of the job

The Occupational Health Service is responsible for assisting managers in delivering the Trusts objectives, in particular:

By responding to the professional developments in Occupational Health practice and health and safety legislation

By the development of new initiatives and policies to ensure that the organisation operates lawfully and minimises health and safety risk to staff, patients and visitors

By the delivery of specialist Occupational Health advice and support to staff.

Experience

  • Significant post-graduate clinical experience, with experience in each of the following areas musculoskeletal/orthopaedics, medical/surgical/ITU and neurology.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and training in relevant area.
  • Experience of evidence based practice and risk assessment.


Desirable

  • Experience of audit/research
  • Experience in the NHS in the UK as a qualified physiotherapist.
  • Experience of supervision
  • Rotations in non-core skill areas e.g. mental health, learning disabilities, community
  • Involvement in Research and Audit projects


Knowledge and Awareness

Essential

  • Awareness of NHS issues.
  • Awareness of confidentiality issues.


Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC Registration


Desirable

  • Member of specialist interest group
  • MCSP
