We are keen to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Consultant Clinical Psychologist who shares a passion for the needs of older people, people with dementia, and their families and carers, across East London. The older adult and dementia psychology provision is well established with a highly skilled, dedicated and stable workforce compromising clinical psychology, family therapy and arts therapy (music, art, and dance and movement). Our primary aim is to deliver excellence in care and address inequalities in access, given the great diversity of the local communities, with compassion and collaboration. Collaborating with service users, their families and teams is key. Teaching, training, and supervision are central to this.

The service is proud of our record on psychological staff retention and satisfaction and supporting the learning and development of doctoral trainee clinical psychologists and trainee arts therapies, from a range of London Universities. The role involves being a Research Champion for Older Adult services, with strong University links, and requires someone who is passionate about ensuring access to and embedding research into clinical and community settings. The service offers excellent development opportunities including high quality and regular specialist clinical supervision, across specialist psychological modalities including Neuropsychology, CAT and EMDR amongst others.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the jobAs the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Lead, Mental Health Care of Older People's services, you will be responsible for providing clinical, professional and strategic leadership in developing and maintaining systematic, high quality, and comprehensive psychology services to all Older Adult Mental Health and Memory services pathways including inpatient services for older adults and people with dementia.

You will be based across the different boroughs and work with the locality senior leadership teams and specialty clinical network to enhance and evaluate the psychological care offer for older adults and people with dementia provided by the multi-professional workforce and in overall service planning and transformation across the locality and specialty.

Providing training, consultancy, supervision and support to multi-professional staff, teams and managers will be essential, as will taking a strategic and pragmatic approach to service evaluation, audit and research as part of on-going quality improvement. You will also provide highly specialist psychological assessment and intervention for complex cases, and input to care and treatment planning, working as part of the multidisciplinary team and as an autonomous specialist Consultant.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology
  • oRegistered with the HCPC.
  • oPost qualification training in two or more of the following psychological modalities: Neuropsychology, CAT, EMDR, Third Wave Approaches, Systemic and Family therapies, DBT etc


Desirable

  • oLeadership and/or management qualification.
  • oPost grad Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology
  • oEMDR supervisor


Qualifications
