Ward 10 is a 31 bedded mixed elderly care ward, caring for patients with complex medical and social care needs. This is an ideal opportunity for both newly qualified and registered nurses who have a passion for caring for Elderly patients. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our established team of dedicated professionals, who will deliver and embrace our Right Care Trust Values and Behaviours. The post will enable you to develop, enhance and expand your existing skills as you work as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide care for patients with a range of conditions meaning there is something new to learn every day.

Job responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professional
1. Be accountable for personal nursing practice.
2. Maintain a high standard of patient care as associate nurse/named nurse. Be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of patient care.
3. Be aware of current development and research in clinical practice.
4. Act as a mentor/assessor to students and HC Support Workers.
5. Participate and assist in research at ward level.
6. Undertake study to meet the requirements of PREPP.
7. Act as a role model for junior staff.
8. Undertake training as required in respect of the extended role ie IV cannulation, Drug Administration and venepuncture.
9. Maintain custody of controlled drugs, checking and administering, checking and maintaining ward stock.
10. Assist medical staff and ascertain medical treatment and reports patient condition to medical staff and receive instructions.
11. Carry out nursing procedures and acts at all times in a professional manner.
12. Contribute to teaching and assessing of learners within the requirement of the ENB.
13. Co-ordinates patients meals and special diets and supervise the service.
14. To be responsible for your professional practice and for complying with the relevant standards and codes of practice set by your regulatory or professional body.
Personal:
1. Organise nursing care plans including admission and discharge of patients in accordance with District Transfer Policy.
2. Assists in requesting of repairs and advise patients on the care of their property.
3. Communicate and co-operate with other nursing units and departments as required.
4. Report accidents, untoward occurrences, complaints, loss or damage of equipment theft and report to Sister/Charge Nurse/Service Manager immediately in accordance with hospital policy and document appropriately.
5. Ensure self participation in the Staff Development Review System, enabling a development of knowledge and skills.
6. Assist in the staff induction programme for new recruits.
In pursuing these duties the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance Understanding the new NHS (details of which can be found in the links section of NHS Jobs).
