The post holder will be an enthusiastic and motivated clinical operational manager who will join our Health Visiting Leadership Team within Public Health Nursing. This will initially be a full-time for 6-month period in Blaenau Gwent with a view to a permanent position. specialist knowledge, skills and experience will be necessary to promote strong, compassionate leadership and clinical governance ensuring the provision of quality services in the borough enabling all children to have the best start in life.

The role will support, enthuse and inspire the multi skilled Health Visiting Service in Blaenau Gwent to ensure wellbeing, quality improvement and delivery of the service to meet the Welsh Government`s public health agenda and support the full implementation of the Healthy Child Wales Programme (HCWP) and Early Years Agenda

This post is fixed term/secondment for 6 months to meet the needs of the service. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Main duties of the job

To support and facilitate the provision of effective, efficient and appropriate high quality Early Years health services to the area population.

To lead a team within Health Visiting, ensuring the staff feel valued and are facilitated to maintain their personal and professional development, through a process of PADR and Clinical Supervision and the Values and Behaviour Framework.

Contribute to Health Board wide and local service developments linked to health visiting and School Health Nursing and the Family and Therapy Division.

Operational management of Health Visitors and Health Visiting team members through strong leadership and transformational management.

To promote evidence based practices and act as a role model.

To develop and implement policies and procedures as appropriate in line with national and local guidelines and recommendations.

To facilitate any change process in partnership with practitioners.

Provide health visiting leadership and operational management both directly and indirectly for the health visiting teams and give clear guidance and support to the teams to enable effective management and leadership of the service.

The post holder will have responsibility for the Clinical and Risk Governance Reporting for health visiting services in the borough.

Job responsibilities

Responsible for the provision of expert advice, standards and evidence based practice in relation to the delivery of Health Visiting delivering corrective action plans with regards to patient experience and feedback.

Provide clinical expertise to the multi-disciplinary team/partners particularly with regard to complex case management.

Provide specialist information to the Senior Nurses as required.

Act in accordance with legal and statutory regulations in relation to practice and comply with policies and procedures.

To act as advocate for all Children and Young People by ensuring the rights of the child are viewed as of paramount importance throughout Health Visiting.

Provide direction to Community Nursery Nurses in the planning, assessing, delivery and evaluation of core and enhanced interventions. Utilising expert knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, working within a wide range of procedures/guidelines to support staff to meet the needs of children, their Families and communities. Providing advice to other partners accordingly.

To support the Public Health Nursing Service in complying with and providing the evidence to demonstrate the adherence to the Health & Care Standards, continuous quality improvement and patient safety and public involvement.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Education, Qualifications, Training

Essential

  • First level Degree Evidence of CPD. Specialist Practitioner, Community Public Health Nursing, Registered Health Visitor
  • Specialist knowledge across the range of work procedures and practices underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experiences Substantial post registration experience including clinical leadership, team management and have a reputation for professional innovation and excellence. Experience of establishing, developing and managing clinical services.
  • Experience of working within health and social service systems, both at local and strategic level.


Desirable

  • Research Module. Teaching qualification Management qualification. MSc
  • Experience of working within health and social service systems, both at local and strategic level.
  • Developing business cases. Project management skills Evidence of quality improvement skills
