Are you looking to start a career in the NHS or continue your NHS career journey? A staff nurse role with Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust has development pathways in nursing via clinical and managerial routes.

Nurses within our services have gone on to have successful careers in a variety of roles including Matrons, Clinical Educators, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and specialist roles like Specialist Epilepsy nurse and Specialist Forensic Nurses.

We are looking to grow our staff nurse workforce in Eden Ward, a Low Secure Unit for up to 13 women with forensic and complex trauma histories. Due to the nature of the ward and current workforce we are looking torecruit female staff only at this point. This is interesting, at times challenging, but very rewarding work. Nursing in secure services is fascinating work with many aspects to the role, including involvement in supporting patients through offender treatment programmes and discharge planning.

At Brooklands Hospital our patients have asked for nurses who: will fight for them in MDT's to get the appropriate opportunities and support, that listen, that let them be involved in care planning and risk assessments, that have a good sense of humour and know what makes them happy. They would like nurses who are caring and talkto them and give them praise when they do well.

If you think this is you and you want to make a career start in an NHS trust that puts it's people first then please come join us.

Main duties of the job

  • Take on the role of nurse in charge daily or when delegated by the Unit Manager or Deputy and prioritise competing demands and the workload of other staff across the service including the accountability for all patient care and the wellbeing of staff and visitors to the unit.

  • The post holder will be expected to participate in and facilitate the various group activities that occur on the ward as part of the inpatient treatment programme and will act as named nurse to allocated patients.
  • Whilst full induction and training will be given, due to the specialist nature of the services it is crucial that staff have a particular interest in this patient group.
  • The post holder is required to possess and constantly update skills which enable them to provide services to this specialist group of patients.
  • The post holder will be required to provide emergency cover, at short notice, to other units in the event of temporary staff deficits.
