The Engagement & Recognition Officer role will have responsibility for supporting the successful implementation of the Workforce, OD andEducation (WOD & E) strategy 2020 and achieving our People Planning Objectives. They will drive the specialised areas of staff engagementand recognition to progress positive cultural transformation within Hywel Dda Health Board. The role will engage and educate Hywel Dda onvarious ways to build staff engagement and recognition across the organisation.

Main duties of the job

The Engagement & Recognition Officer will work autonomously managing their own workload effectively to undertake all relevant duties to support the engagement and recognition agenda within the Health Board. They will provide up to date knowledge and advice on engagement and recognition to managers and staff within the organisation.

The post holder will assist in designing, planning and facilitating events which develop positive staff behaviours and build staff engagement.There will be an expectation that the post holder will actively seek new ways to build engagement of staff and how the organisation values theworkforce.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Knowledge


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level of experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages


  • Knowledge of HR systems and procedures
  • CIPD qualified



  • Previous experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience in the maintenance and establishment of database systems
  • Previous experience of delivering objectives
  • Experience of delivering outcomes within tight timescales
  • Ability to deliver agreed outcomes


  • Previous experience of an administrative function in the NHS



  • Flexible approach to the needs of the service
  • Ability to work flexibly and travel between sites in a timely manner
