Full Time
Independently and confidentially perform 12 lead ECGS and ambulatory monitoring, (24 hour tapes) analyses results and provide a comprehensive and accurate report to enable clinical decision for patient treatment.

Performs transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judgemental skills when acquiring images. Working toward BSE accreditation

Assisting with the stress Echo's and Trans-oesophageal echocardiograms, if you have the echo skills

Performs device implants and follow up's

Performs a wide range of non-invasive and invasive diagnostic tests:

12 Lead ECG's, Ambulatory monitoring analysis

Physiologist Exercise test, Tilt table testing

Device implants and follow-up's

Haemodynamic monitoring during angiography ect:

Echocardiography

Working toward BSE accreditation to perform independently transthoracic echocardiography, (TTE) using manual dexterity and precision, exercising specialist judgemental skills when acquiring images.

Main duties of the job

Performs device implants and follow up's

To produce a full accurate and comprehensive clinical reports independently for each study, which will directly affect patient care and/or management. Responsibility for own caseload.

Responsible for own clinical workload on a day to day basis. i.e. performing and/or reporting on all the non-invasive tests as well as day to day supervision of the junior staff.

Working towards becoming a specialist in a particular field either devices and cardiac cath lab or echocardiography, etc. to develop competence in clinical supervision and be able to act as clinical supervisor where necessary.

To initiate and participate in clinical audit within the department and to use the results to improve quality of service.

You will be required to work across sites such as Darent Valley Heart Centre, Queen Marys at Sidcup and the Community Diagnostic centre.

Person Specification

Education and Training

Essential

  • The successful candidate must have a BSc in Clinical Physiology (Cardiology) or equivalent + ASCST Parts 1 and 2.
  • The successful candidate ideally be RCCP or HCP registered or have the relevant qualifications
  • Intermediate Life support


Desirable

  • Relevant accredited courses


Experience

Essential

  • The candidate must have extensive work experience in a Cardiology Department to include non-invasive and invasive cardiology.


Desirable

  • Able to draw upon a broad range of clinical knowledge


Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • The candidate must be able to perform ILR, Bradycardia pacing implants independently (VVI, DDD) and have experience of CRT implants and ICD implants
  • Perform left and right heart catheters and PCI
  • The candidate must be able to perform resting ECGs and Cardiac Physiologist led exercise stress tests, hooking-up and analyses of 24hr ECG and non-invasive blood pressure ambulatory monitoring and assist in head-up tilt table testing (HUTT)
  • Understand and interpret the results of these tests
  • Work without supervision Understand the basic guidelines and procedures required to perform clinical tests and demonstrate that they can carry these out to the required standards
  • Basic competency in pacemaker implantation, generator replacement and Associated procedures and Reveal implantation

  • The ability to appraise devices prior to the test
  • Training and assessment
  • Experience of performing other test relevant to the department
