The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre is looking to appoint to the post of Band 7 On-Treatment Review Radiographer.

This role needs to be covered full time due to the service needs. It can be split if required with part time roles if suitable applicants are able to cover the whole service of 37.5 hours per week.

We are looking for a dynamic, capable person with a passion for patient care. You will require excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience of managing your own patient workload.

You must be a qualified Therapy Radiographer, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and have developed significant knowledge in current radiotherapy review principles and practice. Applicants are required to have experience of working in radiotherapy review clinics. Postgraduate qualifications in radiotherapy review are desirable, although these can be supported when in post. If these qualifications are currently not held, the post will be offered at a Band 6 training level, to move to Band 7, when a post graduate review module is achieved.

The North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre Radiotherapy Department has 4 Varian Linear Accelerators (3 Truebeam with Surface Guided systems, 1 Varian IX ), Gulmay Orthovoltage Unit, Canon CT Planning Scanner, Prosoma, and an Eclipse TPS.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake radiotherapy on-treatment review clinics providing expertise in the assessment and management of treatment related toxicities and initiating treatment in line with evidence-based protocols and in liaison with the patient's Clinical Oncologist.
  • Provide information and advice to patient, carers and staff on all aspects of cancer, its treatment and the support services available. To offer particular expertise in the field of radiotherapy treatment and the management of treatment related toxicities in line with department and Trust protocols and National Guidance
  • Ensure a patient centred service is maintained, with close liaison with medical and nursing staff, both within the immediate environment and externally.
  • Provide specialist education and training to other professionals and students involved in patient care.
  • Act as / work towards supplementary and independent prescribing of medicines
  • Be a key part of a large multidisciplinary team and to advise on the care of patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment
