Are you a dynamic, passionate Occupational Therapist with experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 5 or established Band 6 Occupational Therapist to strengthen the Trauma and Orthopaedic Therapy Leadership Team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust.
As part of your role, you will ensure best quality therapy across acute T& O pathways, delivering efficient and effective patient flow and seamless pathway experience. You will support the Team Lead Occupational Therapist in establishing and developing OT pathways within the T& O service. This will support delivery of specialist assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning, including D2A. In the future, we are hoping to develop a community Orthopaedic service and strong OT involvement will be required to develop and implement this. You will work alongside an established Band 7 Physiotherapist and Band 7 Occupational Therapist to support day to day operational leadership of the team, including transitioning across to the new Midland Metropolitan Hospital which is due to open in October 2024.
As a Trust, we will support your training and development objectives and encourage networking with peers across the region. You will play a key role in supporting OT education and clinical competency within the T& O Therapy Team.
Main duties of the job
As part of this role you will be required to utilise your core OT skills and specialist T& O knowledge to complete assessments and deliver treatment plans and interventions support rehabilitation goals and improve outcomes for our cohort of patients.
You will use your knowledge and experience to deliver care for our patients and support the learning and development of more junior staff, including registered and non registered members of staff.
Alongside this, effective leadership skills will be required and you will deputise for the band 7 OT lead in their absence.
You will also have the opportunity to lead evidence based audit and research projects to further therapy practice, making and acting upon recommendations for changes in practice to improve service delivery, including the formulation and implementation of therapy service protocols.
In return, we can offer you access to structured supervision and learning opportunities to ensure both your clinical development needs and leadership aspirations are a focus. Regular time for training and development - both internal and external - to meet your individual needs and support you to achieve your learning goals will be provided.
