This a real chance be a part of CAMHS transformation long term plan which will improve the mental health outcome for children and young people across our footprint (HMR, Oldham, Bury, Tameside & Glossop & Stockport) as part Greater Manchester CAMHS transformation agenda.

Stockport CAMHS was in receipt of new investment and as a result has received additional investment over last next three years which has enable CAMHS to continue to offer a specialist high quality service to children and young people in our localities.

Stockport CAMHS offers a wide range of specialist mental health assessments and evidence-based interventions including family therapy, CBT, interpersonal therapy, EMDR, play therapy and psychotherapy for children and young people aged 5 to 16 years. You will be encouraged to explore your therapeutic interest alongside providing a range of quality generic CAMHS (risk) assessments/interventions.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMH Service.The post holder is responsible for providing mental health assessments andpsychotherapeutic interventions for children, adolescents and families usingevidence based interventions.In addition, the post holder is encouraged to develop a specific therapeutic modality as a specialty for the service.

Job responsibilities

To ensure high quality CAMHS assessment of children and families referred to the Tier 3 service. To provide access to a range of quality psychotherapeutic interventions inaccordance with individual assessed need. This will include the assessmentplanning implementation and evaluation of a variety of therapeutic approaches either alone or as a member of the MDT. To deliver therapeutic input to children and young people referred to the team. Work as a co-therapist where appropriate with other members of the MDT. To be responsible for and manage a defined caseload and undertake casemanagement responsibilities within the caseload. To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the child and others in linewith Pennine care and CAMHS procedures and protocols. To liaise closely with a wide range of agencies regarding individual carepackages and to promote awareness of child and adolescent mental healthissues within these agencies. Undertake liaison and joint work with other professionals outside of the MDT To provide consultation and training on a wide range of childrens emotional health and well-being issues to professionals from a range of services including GPs, Early Help and Primacy Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Youth Offending Services and Education Services.

  • NMC nursing or social work or equivalent Health /social care qualification ? Significant post qualification experience in community mental health services to post graduate diploma level
  • Professional involvement with the users of mental health services.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues in young people
