We have a permanent post available working in our Schools and Clinics team. We have a large team with SLTs across all bandings and SLTAs as well as admin support. We are consistently growing with new investment to continue to meet the communication needs of pupils in Wandsworth.

As part of our core SLT offer, we provide a service to children and young people with and without EHCPs. Our secondary service is well established, and we are celebrated our 10 year anniversary in October 2023.

You will need:
  • Experience of and specialist skills working with a diverse paediatric caseload
  • Experience of and specialist skills working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Developed clinical skills especially around DLD and ASD
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently where necessary
  • Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative

Main duties of the job

  • Specialist assessment, management and treatment of children with a range of communication needs with and without an EHCP in schools and clinic
  • Provision of SLT services for a pre-school and school age population
  • Support and supervision of SLT students and junior staff
  • Opportunities to join working parties to develop your skills in service development

The Children's Therapy team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech and language therapists. Therapists work in multi-disciplinary/multi agency teams across the borough of Wandsworth.

Person Specification



  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
  • HCPC registration and RCSLT registration
  • NQP competencies completed



  • Relevant experience post qualification working as a Speech and Language Therapist
  • Relevant post graduate experience in assessment and intervention of children aged 4-16 years with a variety of speech, language and communication difficulties in school settings
  • Experience of working with pre-school children in a range of settings
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision
  • Experience of delivering trainings/courses to education staff



  • Comprehensive knowledge of the National Curriculum and SEND Code of Practice
  • Extensive knowledge of appropriate therapeutic interventions relevant to the client group eg. Narrative therapy etc
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of effective working with families and application to practice and demonstrated ability to engage with and work effectively with parents and carers



  • Ability to identify own learning needs utilising the appraisal process and in line with personal and service development needs
  • Excellent ability to evaluate and reflect on own practice and experience
