We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Locum Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join theCamden MOSAIC CAMHS service. Camden MOSAIC is an integrated service for children and young people with disabilities and their families. This multi-agency partnership service aims to work together to support families to help their child with complex needs to participate fully infamily and community life.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, with experience and interest in working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental disabilities and their families.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant multi-disciplinary CAMHS team. There will be opportunities at the Tavistock and CNWL for continuing professional development. You will be part of a truly integrated, multi-agency partnership at CNWL and we require candidates to workflexibly and confidently within a multi-professional setting.

This post will be based in the MOSAIC CAMHS team at Kentish Town Health Centre and we also work closely with the local special needs school where clinics have been arranged in order to improve accessibility to our services for families with children with learning disabilities and complex social and communication difficulties.

The post holder will offer assessment, consultation and interventions as appropriate tochildren and adolescents alongside working with parents and carers and professionals from the local authority and third sector. The applicant will need to be available to work with MOSAIC on Tuesday mornings, other days are flexible.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.


Desirable

  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
  • MRCPsych
  • Additional clinical qualifications.


ELIGIBILITY

Essential

  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • CCT (or within 6 months of CCT) in psychiatry or CCT equivalent.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Approved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointment


Desirable

  • In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice


CLINICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Excellent knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry
  • Knowledge of working with children and families with disabilities
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psychosocial perspective and wide medical knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Experience in the psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism, ADHD and Learning Disabilities
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA


Desirable

  • Wide range of specialist and subspecialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
  • Wide experience and skill of therapeutic work with children young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and their families
  • Evidence of working flexibly with team members and with young people, and providing appointments in a range of community settings
  • Training in standardized assessment tools to assist diagnosis of Autism, including ADOS, ADI , 3di etc


ACADEMIC SKILLS & LIFELONG LEARNING

Essential

  • Able to deliver postgraduate teaching and training
  • Ability to work in and lead team
  • Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement.
  • Participated in continuous professional development

  • Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes

  • Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation.
  • Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications
  • Has led clinical audits or quality improvement leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients
