Due to new funding, we are looking for someone to join our largely, friendly team to work with patients on our acute wards! We offer great supervision and CPD opportunities including regular inservices, peer support and clinical/professional supervision. Applications are welcome from dysphagia-trained SLTs who are passionate about the care they deliver! Videofluoroscopy training will be provided if required.

Main duties of the job

To provide a clinical service to adult inpatients with acquired communication and/or swallowing problems.

To provide input to the teaching, research, audit and service development functions of the department.

To actively participate in CPD opportunities to maintain and expand clinical knowledge.

Essential

  • Recognised Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Member of HCPC


Desirable

  • Further relevant study
  • RCSLT membership
  • Participation in CENs


Skills / Knowledge

Essential

  • Advanced knowledge of acquired disorders of dysphagia and treatment approaches
  • Knowledge of communication disorders and treatment approaches
  • Ability to manage patients independently
  • Understanding of the roles of other health professionals and working as a multidisciplinary team
  • Analytical, problem-solving abilities
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Presentation Skills


Desirable

  • Ability to interpret videofluoroscopy examinations
  • Ability to perform Cervical Auscultation

  • Working with adults with a broad range of communication disorders and swallowing problems in an acute setting
