We are looking for an enthusiastic member of staff who can join a team of well established training Officers as well as several new members of staff. The post holder will be line managing 6 newly appointed staff who will be responsible for the delivery of training for the new Nervecentre modules (to replacement current careflow functionality). The role will work closely with our current training team supervisor and will be managed by our deployment and Digital content Team manager. The deployment trainers work closely with the Digital content creation team too so experience of e-learning creation is desirable.

The post holder is the supervisor of the Digital Services Clinical System Training Team and their main focus will be to manage the training delivered to staff across the organisation in the use of clinical IT systems. In addition the post holder will also be a member of the Digital Services Product Management Team and will contribute to the account management and on-going support of new and existing clinical IT systems and the associated change control and configuration processes.

Person Specification

Training & Qualifications


  • Recognised qualification in training or equivalent experience
  • Achieved an IT computer qualification (ECDL or equivalent).


  • ITIL Service Management foundation level
  • PRINCE 2 foundation level or equivalent
  • Trained in most NUH IT systems with the ability to demonstrate or extensive experience of use of these systems



  • Has expert knowledge of the majority of the core Clinical IT Systems used within the Trust.
  • Experience of 'one to one' and Group training delivery.
  • Able to manage and maintain the provision of a support service to end customers.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate the creation of new training material, courses and rotas based on sound analysis of training needs and evaluation.
  • Experience of report creation (e.g Training needs analysis, deployment training reports to monitor predicted trained go live numbers)
  • Ability to create/maintain e-learning training materials (e-learning portal info, videos, etc)
  • Experience of managing access profiles.


  • Experience of staff management including development and recruitment.
  • Recognised qualification or course attendance in staff management.

Communication and relationship skills


  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral including presentations to large audiences.
  • Able to manage, lead and motivate others, setting objectives and monitoring performance of a team of staff
  • Customer focused and able to create, build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to manage differing and sometimes conflicting demands for time and resources by users/customers.2


  • Experience of convening and chairing meetings

Analytical and Judgement skills


  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills for all aspects of training, support and implementation.
  • Make judgements and decisions in the absence of more senior managers.
  • Liaison with customers including management of complaints and potential conflict over limited resources.


  • Ability to audit and evaluate training and access for the client in their workplace.

Planning and organisation skills


  • To manage a training schedule and associated material e.g. lessons plans, user guides.
  • Experience of objective setting and performance management.
  • Is able to motivate others both within ICT and throughout the Trust
  • Is able to work both as an individual using ones own initiative and as a team member, prioritising workloads for self and others


  • Experience of managing a budget or an understanding of budget management issues.

Physical skills


  • The post requires highly developed physical skills to be able to meet the demands of the role- keyboard, projector, laptop, varying audiences
  • Able to concentrate for long periods in an unpredictable/reactive environment
  • Frequently required to stand for long periods of times whilst delivering courses/presentations.
  • Able to work under pressure with tight deadlines and provide difficult feedback to trust staff.


  • Able to drive and holds a current driving license.
