An exciting opportunity has arisen a part time Rheumatology CNS within ULHT. This post is based in Boston but will support the Rheumatology CNS team Trust Wide as required.

You will play a crucial role in providing excellent clinical leadership and expertise in all aspects of rheumatology nursing by providing high quality specialist care and management throughout the patient pathway. You will co-ordinate complex patient care.

This post requires a forward thinking, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who can problem solve with the ability to manage your own case load. Working closely with the Rheumatology consultants and the multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for the holistic care of patients.

We would welcome candidates currently working at band 6, with experience rheumatological conditions. As a CNS we hold regular CNS forums, offer clinical supervision and have a wide range of educational opportunities.

Main duties of the job

To assess patients, plan, implement and evaluate care, offer specialist advice and support to patients with a rheumatology condition.

Act as a source of expertise and knowledge to health care professionals.

Act as a key worker for a clinical caseload.

Influence patient care through indirect roles of providing specialist education and training to other staff/students and undertake research, audits and service development within rheumatology.

The post holder has responsibility for maintaining client records, data entry and data processing.

The post holder provides cross cover for colleagues during periods of absence.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • ENB 998 or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Recognised Rheumatology course or equivalent


Desirable

  • Degree or working towards same.
  • Prescribing course.


Knowledge, skills, aptitudes

Essential

  • Demonstrate ability to influence and innovate the clinical practice of others.
  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to the provision of holistic, clinically effective care.
  • Ability to embrace and implement change.
  • Good Presentation skills
  • Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the Trust framework
  • Ability to perform venepuncture and Cannulation and deliver Intravenous drugs.


Desirable

  • Experience in reading test results
  • Analysing data and creating presentations.
  • Previous experience of producing local clinical Guidelines and protocols.


Previous Experience

Essential

  • Relevant Rheumatology experience and knowledge
  • Experience in clinical audit/research.
  • Computer skills.
  • Experience in Health Promotion

  • History taking Course
