An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent senior leader on ward 303 at the Royal Derby Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated leader who wants to develop in their career. You will work alongside the existing sister team ensuring high standards of care are maintained.

The successful individual will provide effective and visible leadership on our busy 29 bedded Acute oncology ward. The care we provide will include patients from part of our cancer BU, Haematology and patients undergoing Radiotherapy,

The post is a full time, 37.5 hours per week role.

Applicants must hold a current NMC registration, and have demonstrable post registration experience with Band 6 experience in Acute Nursing. The applicant must be able to demonstrate their leadership experience. Haematology / Oncology experience is desirable but not essential.

An informal visit is strongly advisable to see what we do!

The Cancer BU consists of 5 Inpatient wards, Combined triage assessment unit, chemo unit and outpatients at RDH and QHB

Main duties of the job

The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, be dynamic and strive for excellence in all aspects of the role. They also need to demonstrate that they are supportive and are able to manage the daily challenges of being a ward manager. They will need to act as a role model and maintain and uphold high standards of professional behaviour.

The successful applicant will take overall nursing responsibility for the day to day ward environment. They will also be ensuring we promote patient safety and a positive patient experience.

This role is importantly also about being an exemplar role model for the Nursing Team and steering their development and support.
