The role is focused on the annual hardware refresh of the end user device estates across the Trust over a four year period.

The End User device within the trust could encompass

- Desktop and Notebook/Laptop devices

- Smartphones, Tablets and other mobile devices

- Virtual Desktops and associated applications

Typically this involves handling the bulk of the device replacements including all discretionary and some break/fix replacements as well as deployments required by an existing projects where time and resource permits.

Main duties of the job

The role requires the ability to organize their own work and do so flexibly to accommodate both the needs of individual users and the wider organization simultaneously. It will involve deployments for projects and large/complex moves as required.

Managing the stock levels and coordinating with onsite and offsite teams responsible for storage and arranging transport.

Working closely with the packaging team to assist in discovery, testing and deployment of images and packages.

The deployment role entails the use of several existing tools in order to assess the estate and identify devices due to be upgraded, assessing the appropriate device required for a specific role or function. Where a new device is being assessed this role will be key in the selection and testing of such devices.

Job responsibilities

Build and deployment of EUC devices and associated peripherals of in (> 1,000 devices annually)

Testing of new images and application packages, including updates.

Documentation of image and application deployment procedures.

Recommendation and testing of new EUC device testing

Assist project team with device deployment.

Assist project team with large/complex moves.

Assist site team with deployment troubleshooting.

Managed certified data destruction process on selected devices(EG: Blancco).

Manage asset disposal through Trust approved procedures.

EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS

Desirable

  • Qualified to A level ideally in a technical subject


SKILLS/ ABILITIES

Essential

  • Use of an enterprise image management/packaging tool such as SCCM or similar.
  • Ability to prioritise and schedule multiple workstreams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in relation to end users and other technical support teams.
  • Ability to both interpret and explain complex IT issues and communicate these in a clear way to staff at all levels of the organisation.
  • Excellent task and time management skills


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • 5 years plus experience of a customer facing IT support role at second line or higher including extensive experience of build and deployment operations, end user device fault resolution and diagnosis.
  • Application and network support experience advantageous
  • Experience of working within a clinical NHS environment, ideally within a large acute Trust.


KNOWLEDGE

Desirable

  • Detailed understanding of current technologies currently is use by the role
  • Understanding of the IT function in a Hospital and how information technology can deliver benefit to Patients and Clinicians.
