Junior Operational Service Manager Post

The Community Services Business Unit inNorthumbria Healthcare NHS Trust delivers a wide range of health services to meet the needs of local people. As part of the continued service provision an opportunity has arisen for a Operational Service Manager within Wheelchair Services. Wheelchair Services provides specialist care to residents of North Tyneside and Northumberland delivered by a team of Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists, Technical Assistants and support staff.

Main duties of the job

You will have operational management knowledge, experience of leading teams/services, a track record of managing projects through to successful completion and will recently have been involved in leading complex change.

Your excellent communication and teamworking skills will enable you and our team to embrace quality improvement as a continuum in order to enhance the patient and staff experience and ensure maximum value in all they do.

This role will appeal to skilled and innovative staff who are committed to supporting the delivery of high-quality services. As a successful candidate, you will have experience of project management and supporting tools and of working with data and information. Ideally you will have some skill in analysis and interpretation in order to support needs assessment, priority setting, business planning, monitoring, audit and evaluation of services.

Good organisational and time management skills are essential, along with excellent interpersonal skills and positive teamworking.

Job responsibilities

To ensure effective leadership, management and co-ordination in the day to day running of Wheelchair Services to promote safety and independence in the management of disability and long-term health conditions to enable people to live fulfilling, safe and independent lives.

As the Service Leader, ensure good quality support and supervision is provided for qualified and unqualified staff. To contribute to planning, development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives in Wheelchair Services. To take a leading role in the service in research, audit and clinical governance. To provide strong leadership support to the general manager and senior manager in the community service business unit.

To support the achievement of objectives within both the trust and business unit. To support the General Manager in the delivery of services so as to meet the performance targets for the trust. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.

  • Professional qualification at degree level or equivalent experience at a senior level in the NHS or public sector
