Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 BSE qualified Cardiac Physiologist to work at Harrogate district hospital. We will require the candidate to rotate to out CDC hub at Ripon.

Newly accredited Band 6 candidates would also be considered to start the position at Band 6 level as a developmental post. The candidate would then progress to Band 7 level once agreed competencies have been met.

The post holder should be competent to issue independent reports, provide teaching and mentorship to other team members and undertake quality control of reporting and images with in the team. Our core hours are 8 till 5, usually over a 9-day fortnight. We will however consider longer working days, condensed working patterns or possibly two part time members of staff who wish to job share. Additional weekend and evening working may be required.

Main duties of the job

  • Independently perform ultrasound scans on a range of outpatients and inpatients, including adult congenital heart disease patients (ACHD), recording and interpreting images obtaine
  • You wiill work to British Society of Echocardiography standards, and adhere to all protocols and guidelines of the societ
  • Vetting and triage of report
  • Monitor wait times and alert service managers to issues in a timely manne
  • Partaking in the team quality control of reports and images
  • Formulate detailed Echo reports to be personally verified and issued to consultants
  • Undertake clinical supervision and training of junior and trainee physiology staff and other professional group
  • Participate in Continuing Professional Development and other developmental activities, including research and clinical trial
  • Work with Team Leaders and the Service Manager in further developing the clinical physiology service
  • Maintain professional registration at all times
  • Be responsible for the care and maintenance of the ultrasound equipment.

  • Appropriate post graduate qualifications
  • Mentorship qualification
  • ILS



  • At least 3 years experience as an echo cardiographer.


  • Experience of physiologist led valve clinics and / or physiologist led stress echo service.
