Provide a consistently highly specialist pharmaceutical service for all patients seen within the Trust providing optimal medicine reconciliation in a timely manner whilst facilitating patient discharge.To provide a framework for the safe, efficient and cost effective use of medicine resources within the wards, by the provision of education and training, procedures, policies and guidelines, medicines usage information, and clinical audit.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic, innovative and friendly team dedicated to improving our ward based clinical pharmacy services and patient services. We are looking for someone with experience and a passion in this area of work in hospital pharmacy. You must be an enthusiastic, motivated and a patient orientated pharmacy technician dedicated to patient safety. You will work with the medicines management and dispensary teams to help implement, deliver and continually improve the technical and clinical support for wards and Satellite units.You will need to have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team. You will also need to be friendly, approachable, adaptable, flexible, willing to learn new skills and be committed to continuous professional development.

Person Specification



  • NVQ level 3 and/or BTEC or equivalent in pharmaceutical science
  • Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Accredited Medicines management course
  • Accredited technical checking course


  • Management course



  • Excellent written English skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use initiative, negotiate and problem solve
  • Able to work as a team and independently

Knowledge and Skills


  • Hospital Pharmacy Experience
  • Ability to carry out Medicines Reconciliation
  • Knowledge of IT packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint


  • Staff management experiences
