We are looking for a forward thinking, passionate individual with proven experience within Stroke services suitable for a band 7 physiotherapist to join our in-patient Stroke services here at Salford Care Organisation to cover a maternity leave. The role will contribute to both Hyper-Acute Stroke assessments unit and the Acute Stroke rehabilitation unit. You would be working alongside senior Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists managing a large team of Occupational Therapists and physiotherapists from band 3 to band 6 level.

Main duties of the job

  • To take a lead role in the advanced assessment and treatment of stroke patients, who may have complex and /or chronic presentation.
  • To determine clinical diagnosis and treatment indicated and maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To lead assessment, liaison, and decision-making processes on behalf of the MDT for patients referred to the service.
  • To undertake a significant clinical caseload to a high professional standard using specialist knowledge from theoretical and practical experience.
  • To plan, coordinate and evaluate the Physiotherapy Service in own work area provided to Stroke in-patients on a day-to-day basis, and to cover for any other area with this specific caseload as necessary.

Person Specification



  • BSC Physiotherapy Degree
  • HCPC registered
  • Significant evidence of post registration clinically based development in related services


  • Post Graduate study in Stroke related topics
  • Evidence of involvement in Stroke related research



  • Evidence of advanced assessment and treatment of Stroke related conditions in acute and rehabilitation settings
  • Evidence of strong MDT working in a clinical setting
  • Understanding of SSNAP
  • Experience of working in a clinical MDT setting
  • Strong evidence of supervision / competent clinical educator
  • Evidence of quality improvement work or Service development within a clinical setting
  • Evidence of autonomous decision making in Stroke setting
  • Evidence of working in a Stroke setting at band 6 or 7 level


  • Evidence of involvement in stroke related research
