To be part of a highly motivated podiatry team across Bedfordshire, working in a variety of settings, to include but not exhaustive, acute hospital sites, community settings, patients own homes, residential and care settings, providing high quality podiatric care under the mentorship of senior members of podiatry clinical staff.

Main duties of the job

  • To organise and manage a clinical caseload, which will include gaining further experience of providing podiatric care for patients with diabetic, rheumatological and biomechanical problems.
  • To assess diagnose, develop and implement individualised treatment programmes for patients with a wide variety of clinical needs, including acute or chronic neuropathies, chronic diseases, vascular problems and wound management.
  • To provide appropriate education to patients with diverse foot pathology and utilise analytical and reasoning skills in this process, In order to empower the patient and others to participate in the patients self care.
  • To gain postgraduate experience during the period of mentorship in diabetes, rheumatology, biomechanics, tissue viability, nail surgery and wound management.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualification/ Training


  • HPC Registered Podiatrist
  • Diploma or BSc/BSc (Hons) in Podiatry or equivalent
  • Local Analgesia Certificate
  • Minor surgical skills


  • Evidence of CPD



  • Experience of providing high quality clinical care within defined time frameworks undertaking the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of podiatric care to a variety of patients with a wide range of clinical needs
  • Previous clinical experience in the NHS as a student or newly qualified


  • Experience of residential and care settings

Knowledge and skills


  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Able to convey tasks and actions to colleagues and service users
  • Ability to deliver to and hear distressing news from patients, when discussing treatment plans and during consultations when patients share their life experiences



  • Requirement to assist patients to achieve safe working environment for treatments to be carried out, including removal of hosiery/footwear
  • Requirement for frequent concentration during treatment of up to twenty patients daily.
  • Requirement to travel across the geographical area, transporting equipment needed for patient treatment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
