An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced Occupational Health Nurse Advisors to join our expanding Occupational health Service.

Main duties of the job

The role requires the applicant to work as an experienced occupational health nurse and to contribute to the leadership, education and management of the junior members of the nursing and administrative team.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate the use of evidence-based practice and be proactive in managing change. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with a readiness to innovate and develop nursing within a team approach.

The post holders will ideally hold an occupational health qualification or significant experience in this area, as the successful applicant will be a key team member within the service with a diverse clinical caseload of providing attendance management advice and health clearance on employment. Overseeing the health surveillance programme and supporting both administrative and junior team members in the day to day running of the service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge


  • RN Level 1
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of professional development to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent experience


  • Occupational health qualification, degree level (or willing to work towards)
  • Teaching and assessing module
  • Counselling skills/qualification
  • Health and Safety qualification



  • Occupational health experience
  • Relevant Band 5 experience
  • Experience in a range of settings providing general nursing care and that which requires an autonomous practitioner


  • Experience of case management for staff absent due to sickness absence
  • Experience of developing and maintaining health surveillance programmes
  • Experience of undertaking workplace medicals
  • Experience of assessing individual's fitness for role

Language skills


  • Welsh speaker (Level 1)
