An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Orthodontic Dental Laboratory team in the capacity of Chief Technician.
Working closely with clinical colleagues and managing a small team of Dental Technicians, the successful candidate will thrive working in a busy, collaborative environment, supporting clinical and dental technician colleagues to optimise the patient experience.
Main duties of the job
Managing the day to day operations of the Orthodontic Lab, the post holder will have the leadership qualities required to collaborate with a broad range of colleagues, from consultants, StR'S, Dental Therapists and Dental Nursing colleagues, tailoring their approach accordingly.
The successful candidate will lead by example, able to provide complex Orthodontic appliances to the specification of treatment plans and prescriptions.

- Fully qualified dental technician holding a BTEC Diploma/BSc in Dental Technology or equivalent
- Nationally recognised advanced qualification at HNC/HND level or equivalent specialising in Orthodontics
- Registered Dental Technician (GDC)
Experience

- Significant post qualification experience in appropriate discipline
- Experience of staff management
- Previously held post at supervisory level
- Previous experience working in a Dental Hospital or private Laboratory
- Experience of teaching/instructing
- Experience in the production of highly complex orthodontic appliances
- Plan design and construct highly complex orthodontic appliances
Knowledge

- Continued Professional Development in accordance with statutory requirements must be maintained
- Knowledge of a range of specialist orthodontic technical procedures.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures including infection control.
