The Assistant Workforce Manager role will be a key role within the Workforce team. The post-holder will take a lead in conjunction with the Workforce Manager in the day to day management of the Workforce teams, ensuring that all work is carried out effectively, efficiently and in compliance with Trust Policies, Procedures, good practice guidance and in line with national service standards and policy direction.

Main duties of the job

They will be responsible for the day to day management of systems and processes to support the efficient deployment of the trust medical workforce (consultants, junior doctors, SAS grades, medical associate professions) .and The Trust supports approximately 17,000 workforce systems users annually. The workforce Teams support every part of this process

The post holder will be responsible for facilitation of specific work programmes as delegated by the Workforce Manager. This will include supporting the formulation, development and delivery of medical workforce strategies/plans in line with corporate, CSU, organisational and national objectives.

The post holder has a significant level of discretion and autonomy to manage their own workload, seeking guidance from the Medical Workforce Manager as required.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that targets are met, the team are working efficiently, dealing with complex queries, reviewing risks and issues identified by the team as well as contributing to the continued development of the team.

The post holder will support LEAN working by the medical workforce teams and a culture of continuous improvement, standard work and waste reduction.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrable people management experience, preferably within a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge and experience across both Medical Workforce and Workforce Systems by referencing experience that you've previously had


Skills & Behaviours

Essential

  • Demonstrable experience/ability in interpreting and analysing information, with regard to e.g. medical rostering, revalidation, job planning and medical appraisals
  • Demonstrable experience/ability to negotiate, persuade and influence, using good communication skills both verbally and in writing


Desirable

  • Awareness of the NHS Long Term Plan


Other Criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrable specialist knowledge of Medical and Dental T& Cs, European WTD, GOSW, GMC, CQC and NHSi


Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
