To work in conjunction with social care colleagues, health practitioners, Family Hub Leads and the named and designated professionals across the health economy to improve the coordination of services and quality of decision making.

To act as a consultant in relation to health issues and concerns.

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the effective safeguarding of children and families as part of the MASSH team, through provision of health expertise, information and advice to inform safeguarding children and family risk assessments and decision-making.

To develop, promote and facilitate safe, effective systems of information-sharing and communication between health organisations and multi-agency partners and contributing to single or multi-agency training.

To work with Team Leads to develop high standards of clinical practice and skills and ensure sustained high standards of performance.

To contribute to the organisation and planning processes to deliver high quality outcomes for children, young people and their families.

To be responsible for the development of strong community engagement in service delivery and public accountability to the local community.

To support the development of service business plans, workforce plans, area plans and complete annual reports and other reports as applicable to service

Provide clinical advice to social care practitioners who require additional health input to inform decision making and judgments

Provide specialist knowledge, support and advice to health professionals following joint assessments or referrals.

Job responsibilities

You will be required to work with multi agency professionals as part of MASSH team in Stockport Family and work when required with the safeguarding hospital team.

You will be working with an integrated team of professional in the Multi Agency Safeguarding and Support Hub, and in partnership with the integrated Public Health Nursing team and Family Help teams alongside the Safeguarding team from Stockport Foundation Trust.

A restorative approach supports strengths based working with children and families.

In addition you will be part of a successful Stockport Family team having access to a wide range of knowledge and skills, training opportunities and learning.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately.

If successful this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of �41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary

In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of �13.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Specialist Public Health Practitioner


Desirable

  • A post graduate degree in a related field


Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound Knowledge of safeguarding practice in a national and local context.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding within a public health context


Skills

Essential

  • High level of communication skills with a range of partners.
  • Skills in assessing risk and resilience in families
  • Ability to support and challenge practitioners to ensure best practice.


Experience

Essential

  • At least 3 years caseload experience in a qualified public health nursing role
  • Extensive experience of safeguarding in a health role


Desirable

  • Experience of working in an integrated setting with a variety of health, social care and education partners
