We are seeking a Band 7 state-registered physicist to join our team at Peterborough City Hospital. This would be an excellent opportunity for STP or Route 2 trainees approaching the end of their training.
Our department is equipped with three Varian TrueBeam accelerators. We use the Varian Eclipse treatment planning system, with full GPU calculation capability, RapidPlan and MCO, and exploit the features of the ARIA R& V system to deliver a fully paperless clinical service.
RapidArc is utilised for all suitable clinical sites, daily online IGRT is used for most patients, and the service has implemented SABR lung and oligomet treatments, DIBH breast treatments and 4DCT scanning for lung patients. As well as providing top-class service to our patients, we are actively involved in research and development projects and national clinical trials.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 7 physicist, you will take an active role in all aspects of the radiotherapy physics service including treatment planning, plan checking, machine QA and dosimetry, commissioning work, and R& D.
Previous experience of Varian hardware and software would be advantageous, but full training and mentoring will be provided.
Pre-registration candidates may be considered depending on their current training status, for appointment at an appropriate level.
