With an award-winning, multi-disciplinary Programme Team and as one of the largest new hospital projects in the UK, the Trusts Programme Team combines clinical and design expertise, construction/project management excellence, and specialist roles. We are looking for a BtLW Project Safety Manager.

You will demonstrate excellent knowledge and experience regarding safety in the design and construction of capital projects. With strong communication, organisation and planning skills, you will be able to work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists and stakeholders demonstrating the ability to constructively challenge to improve Project safety.

The role should be considered an on-site role with the opportunity to take advantage from the Trusts flexible working policies. The role shall be required to work from any of the Trusts premises, although is expected to be predominantly based at the LGI site or nearby premises.

Main duties of the job

The BtLW Project Safety Manager shall be an integral member of the BtLW Programme Team responsible for planning, managing, co-ordinating and assuring health and safety across all projects providing construction health and safety advice and expertise during pre-construction, construction and post-construction stages and which shall include undertaking site Health & Safety inspections and audits.

The role shall be responsible for ensuring the Trust complies with its legal obligations in relation to the management and delivery of construction-related projects and specifically the Construction Design & Management (CDM) Regulations 2015 and the Building Safety Act (2022). The role shall also be responsible for manging specialist construction related professional advisers in connection with the delivery of Projects and ensuring that all other parties are compliant with the legal obligations and that Projects within the remit of the Programme adopt and promote best-practice safety measures and practices. The role shall be responsible for the drafting, management and review of specific H& S policies in connection with the BtLW Programme.

The role will work closely with Project Managers, specialist advisers and the BtLW Programme Management Office (PMO).

This will be a dynamic role where you will be involved in several projects at any one time, providing the opportunity to manage large scale change and bring our vision for the new hospital to life.

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post-qualification experience in a Construction health & safety environment/role.
  • A thorough knowledge of the CDM regulations (2015) and associated legislation.
  • Knowledge of the Building Safety Act (2022) and its requirements/application.


Desirable

  • Experience of working on health-related construction projects on complex operational sites.
  • Knowledge of HTMs, HBNs
  • Experience of managing and delivering construction related projects.

  • To have demonstrably strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills and the ability to listen and respond to the needs of a wide range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in relevant construction or health and safety-related discipline/ or demonstration of relevant transferrable knowledge and skills.
  • Post Graduate Qualification to Masters level or equivalent experience.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or similar technical or professional qualification.
  • Registered Member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPS / CMaPS), with CDM 2015


Desirable

  • Project / Programme Management Qualification such as Prince 2, APM PMQ, or equivalent experience.
  • Construction related technical design qualifications or equivalent experience.
