We have an exciting opportunity for a Preceptorship Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join AEDimhs (Adult Eating Disorder Integrated Mental Health Service). This post aims to support the clinician to develop to an 8a position within the team.

AEDimhs is a newly established low medical risk eating disorder service working within Primary care. You would be working with a supportive, motivated and energetic team as we further our service development across Surrey Heartlands and Frimley South.

We are seeking to find a psychologist who wants to make a difference by providing high quality NICE concordant Eating Disorder interventions to patients aged 18 years plus.

You will need to be a Clinical Psychologist with a keen interest in supporting people with a range of eating disorders, with a particular focus on early intervention and prevention.

The introduction of this team is part of a wider transformation and expansion of community-based Specialist mental health services set out in the NHS Long Term Plan.

Main duties of the job

Key ResponsibilitiesOverall: As part of a small team, to contribute to delivering and co-developing the primary care Eating Disorder mental health service model and care pathways for the provision of integrated physical and mental health care in Primary Care Networks.To accept referrals direct from primary care and promote early assessment, treatment and ensure robust relationships and links with other community-based services. To work predominantly with adults (18+) with an Eating Disorder whose needs are best met within primary care and whose difficulties are best understood within a biopsychosocial model.To work closely with colleagues in specialist Adult Eating Disorder Services and Mental Health services to ensure smooth transitions between teams and services and facilitate an 'easy in, easy out' approach to improve access to evidence-based interventions

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical or Counselling Psychology qualification
  • Professional membership (e.g., HCPC, BABCP)


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with people from across the life span with a range of mental health issues and cognitive profiles
  • Experience across a range of psychological models including systemic, behavioural and individual therapeutic
  • For roles in Learning Disabilities or older adults candidates should demonstrate experience of working with people with learning disabilities or older adults within a positive behaviour support framework


Desirable

  • Working within a primary care setting


Band8a experience (in addition to band7)

Essential

  • Experience of supervising assistant and trainee clinical psychologists
  • Demonstrable post registration/clinical experience and competency relevant to this care group
  • Experience of contributing to clinical practice/service development/project work
  • Demonstrable interest/skill in a relevant specialist area
