Due to investment and expansion in our service, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Occupational Therapist to join our friendly team delivering specialist therapy services to children and young people across Buckinghamshire. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and develop our school age therapy services across health, education and social care settings.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our therapeutic team and take a leading role in carrying out Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) assessments and supporting the operational leads with managing tribunal cases. This is an excellent opportunity to help shape and develop our statutory service provision working alongside our School Aged Pathway lead and MDT colleagues.

Main duties of the job
In this varied Band 7 position you will:
- Carry out specialist occupational therapy assessments for children and young people aged 5-19 years old going through the EHCP process, identifying their support needs and required provision
- Produce high quality professional advice and reports to inform EHCP decisions
- Build effective working relationships with children, families, schools and other agencies
- Play a key role in service improvement initiatives to enhance our EHCP pathway
- Supervise and guide more junior clinical staff.
- Following an EHCP assessment you will develop CYP-centred goal plans focused on improving participation and independence through measurable goals which will then be handed over to school aged team.
- Monitor progress, and maintain timely and comprehensive clinical records.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary team meetings and collaborate on joint goal-setting for Education Health and Care Plans. Co-produce EHCP assessment with various stakeholders (parents/ agencies/ schools)
- Managing the EHCP caseload of School Aged CYP
- Manage tribunals and mediations by reviewing evidence, preparing reports, and attending hearings/meetings to represent and advise on occupational therapy recommendations under the guidance of the Operational Lead
- Maintain knowledge of best practices in paediatric OT through ongoing professional development.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
Essential
- Registered member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
- Recognised Occupational Therapy degree qualification or equivalent
- Health Professions Council Licence to Practice (HCPC) Registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development and personal development in the area of working with children
- Comprehensive post registration therapy experience working with CYP of school age with a complex range of needs
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Clinical experience working within children aged 0-19 years.
- Extensive experience of working which children and their families as part of MDT team.
- Experience and extensive knowledge of statutory processes
- Experience in supporting resolution processes e.g. formal and informal complaints
- Demonstrates knowledge of specialist OT assessment tools relevant to the client group
- Demonstrates knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic assessments and goal setting
- Able to manage emotional consequences and sensitivity in working with patients with a range of OT needs
- Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner
Desirable
- Evidence of supervision of others in person and via remote platforms
- Extensive experience of working with children and their families, as part of a multidisciplinary team.
