We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with orthopaedic experience to join our theatre team. This will be a seconded role until the 14th April 2025. We have three dedicated orthopaedic theatres within our department which cover trauma and elective patients. This secondment is an exciting opportunity to provide excellent patient care and to develop yourself and your team.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a positive role model to the team and leader.
  • To promote excellent patient care.
  • To deputise in absence of the Theatre Team Leaders.
  • To ensure organisation of orthopaedic equipment, including repairs and maintenance.
  • To ensure effective communication between all members of the MDT.
  • To oversee theatre validation.
  • Implementing positive change.

Person Specification

Knowledge

Essential

  • An understanding of relevant legislation including Health & Safety.
  • An understanding of professional standards.
  • Awareness of current initiatives in the NHS.
  • Awareness of Clinical Governance / theatre best practice.
  • Able to participate in budget, stock control and cost effectiveness.
  • Understands the need for strict confidentiality.
  • Able to participate in the collection of data to support effective service delivery.
  • Ability to use and evaluate complex information.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of audit and quality issues.


Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • or
  • Registered Operating Department Practitioner with valid HCPC registration
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Specialist theatre / anaesthetic qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within the perioperative setting
  • Proven organisational skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Understands and is committed to a caring approach to patients and relatives.
  • Able to lead, manage and support team.
