Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated, enthusiastic, dynamic nurse to join our friendly multidisciplinary team in General Intensive Care as a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. Take this unique opportunity to join us now for a chance to experience and contribute to developments to enhance this regional service.
The General Intensive Care Unit (GICU) is a designated major trauma centre and is currently a 31 bedded facility. The GICU admits patients with diverse and complex needs following a variety of injuries as well as providing high quality nursing for patients with a wide range of illnesses requiring level 3 and 2 care.
You should be able to work in pressurised situations with maturity, motivation and enthusiasm. You must have key qualities demonstrating sound leadership skills in motivating a team in an evolving environment, with characteristics of compassion and commitment to provide safe, quality care for patients and their relatives.

What you'll do - To assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care, providing support to other members of the multidisciplinary team. To lead, motivate and supervise the professional work of nursing staff at Band 5 and below, exercising good leadership and control. This post requires the individual to cover the full range of shifts (nights and days) and have flexibility to cover any day of the week. If you enjoy the challenge of working in a busy environment and you are looking for a position which will challenge and stretch you then this is the post for you.
What we're looking for - First level Registered Nurse Evidence of supporting learners in practice experience. Evidence of management experience Clinical and Leadership Ability Up to date experience of working in a Critical Care setting Good interpersonal, communication skills
