An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Physiotherapist to work in the Pulmonary rehabilitation service at St Richards Hospital. This is a fixed term (10 month) job and will be for 3 days a week (Tuesday/Wednesday and Thursday - 0.6 WTE) to cover a period of maternity leave.
The successful applicant will work under the direct supervision of the Pulmonary rehabilitation Team Lead and alongside the rotational Band 6 physiotherapist and support worker colleagues in an innovative, exciting, and pro-active team.
Applicants will ideally have experience of working within Pulmonary Rehabilitation (as a student or post-graduation) although training will be provided. The successful applicant will (with support of the Team Lead) be responsible for the provision of Pulmonary Rehabilitation (including exercise classes and education), telephone triage and physical assessment of patients. In addition, the post holder, with support of the team lead, will undertake evaluation of the service using evidence-based practice, audit, and outcome measures.
The interview will be face to face with a practical element.
Main duties of the job
Your main duties will be within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service supporting the PR Lead to provide a high quality and comprehensive program and work towards accreditation.
You will be part of a chronic multidisciplinary team based in an acute trust where your proven ability to make high level clinical decisions will aid patient self-management.
You will provide comprehensive and appropriate physiotherapy assessments, interventions, and goal-based rehabilitation. You will be expected to work autonomously and as part of a larger team to deliver a comprehensive self-management plan which at times may mean co-ordinating interventions, signposting patients and taking a keyworker role.
You will use evidence-based principles/current best practice to guide your practice and ensure that all members of your team such as rehabilitation assistants complete their delegated work.
Your caseload management and communication skills will enable you to prioritise patient care. You will also work closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team including Doctors, Nurses, Rehabilitation Assistants.
To develop treatment plans and carry out treatment of patients with a variety of conditions and complex needs. To evaluate these treatment sessions and modify appropriately.
To take responsibility for own learning and to actively participate in CPD activities, IST, audit, evidence-based projects, and other activities aimed at enhancing the development of the individual and the service.
