There are vacancy's available within our Mental Health Services for Older People Etherow Building, Tameside Hospital. Within the In-patient Unit we provide the following:

14 bedded Functional Assessment Ward - Hague Suite

11 bedded Organic Assessment Ward - Summer Suite

Role Summary:

A Senior Nurse Team supports the In-patient Unit, and interfaces with the wider multi-disciplinary team, and the Community Mental Health Teams in working within the Care Programme Approach. All nursing staff working within the In-patient Unit are trained in physical interventions.

Main duties of the job

? Act as named nurse / key worker for an identified group of service users ensuring the assessment, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.? To co-produce collaborative care plans for service users and undertake service users' activities as appropriate ensuring a high standard of care.? Ensure all appropriate service users and ward records are maintained to the required standard both in electronic and paper formats.? Adhere to appropriate policies, procedures and guidelines.? Liaise with the wider multidisciplinary team to enhance the standard of care service usersreceive.? Undertake risk assessments, and work within the framework of the Care ProgrammeApproach acting as a key worker as required.? Participate in staff induction's, acting as a preceptor to develop the skills and knowledge or newly qualified nursing staff as appropriate.? The post holder will be expected to provide mentorship to others as part of your role. You will be expected to undertake mentorship training.? To safely administer controlled drugs and all other medication in accordance with Medicines' Management Policy and NMC guidance.? Act as Shift Leader ensuring the smooth running of the ward area and participating in an effective hand over period, ensuring good communications at all times.

Job responsibilities

Ensure that clinical practice is line with least restrictive principles. Ensure all legal and statutory frameworks are adhered to. Ensure service user confidentiality at all times. Communicate effectively with all staff, service users and carers, in accordance with Trust values. Participate in Research and Development activities and ward based clinical audits as required. Other appropriate duties for which the post holder is competent, as required. The post holder may be asked to work on any ward, department within the Mental Health Setting. To complete clinical routine outcome measures as directed. To be part of the emergency response rota and this becoming a member of that team responding to emergencies. This will be an on as required basis. PMVA trained / experienced.

Essential

  • Registered Nurse Qualification (LD / MH)


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within mental health setting.
  • Experience of working within Multi-Disciplinary Team.
  • Experience of admission and discharge process.
  • Experience of working within framework of Care Planning Approach.


Desirable

  • Previous experience of working on an acute mental health ward.


Knowledge

Essential

  • The Mental Health Act 1983 and Code of Practice.
  • Legislation relating to discharge and aftercare.
